With Byrd's riffs and Stones swagger, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers burst onto the scene in '76 blending British invasion, US garage rock with the urgency & vibrancy of current new wave bands. This is one of their earliest radio shows broadcast by KSAN-FM from the Record Plant, Sausalito on April 23rd 1977. Captures the band ripping through their current set in front of a small audience in remastered sound quality. I have this live performance on LP ("Tearjerker" bootleg) since the late '70s, but this CD is so much better. Much more clarity, even the complete performance is captured here (Listen To Her Heart was NOT on the LP, but is included here on the CD). More between - song banter, even Petty asking "where is my beer?" while tuning up his guitar. This is essentially a LIVE-IN-THE-STUDIO Record Plant Recording Studios in Sausalito, CA and broadcasted LIVE on KSAN-San Francisco with maybe 20 - 30 people (just a guess) present in the recording studio. FM Broadcast from April 23, 1977.Here is the complete tracklist:Surrender 3:10Jaguar And The Thunderbird 2:49American Girl 5:20Fooled Again (I don't like it) 5:35Luna 4:42Listen To Her Heart 3:13I Need To Know 2:36Strangered In The Night 4:12Dogs On The Run 10:25Route 66 3:50Special Guests: AL Kooper and Denny CordellI feel this deserves a 5 star rating for just having "Surrender" in the setlist, the complete show, and it sounds much better than my bootleg LP (which sounded great but was missing "Listen To Her Heart").Well worth the money.
