I purchased two (2) of the "Cayway" 300pc Red Roof Tile set with Scrapers, on Amazon for a bird feeder project I was working on. The tiles exactly matched to description and arrived in excellent condition. These are fired, clay tiles that are tough and require a chistle to cut. There were no broken tiles and very few with small imperfections. I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED! The set is an awesome value.I played around with the tiles to determine the layout I wanted, that covered both roofs, and allowed for the overhang I wanted. I drew layout lines, at 1/2" intervals, to help me keep the layout straight as I assembled. I used clear silicone to adhere the tiles to the plywood roof, I had painted with a marine paint, for waterproofing, and worked carefully. The design of the tiles allowed each tile to mostly self-align and the layout marks kept me straight. On the large roof (14" X 8 1/4") I needed 300 tiles (20 across X 15 layers) and for the small roof (7" X 5") I used 100 tiles (10 across X10 layers). I used a 1/4" overlap to get the desired effect.Take your time. Be patient, work carefully and your project will come out looking great. If your project needs, or could benefit from, a realistic, Terra Cotta tile roof, you may not find a better choice anywhere. Silicone allows for extended working time, flexability and water proofing.
